1.02 SUBMITTALS
A. Shop Drawings: Provide for all doors and other related materials
specified in this Section.
Indicate door construction and reinforcement for hardware.
1.03 PRODUCT HANDLING
A. Follow special storage and handling requirements of the manufacturer

2.01

2.02 MATERIALS
A. Faces: 1/4" thick steel. Prime quality, cold rolled,
pickled, annealed carbon steel sheets conforming to ASTM# 366
B. Edges: 1/2" thick steel. Prime quality, cold rolled,
pickled, annealed carbon steel sheets conforming to ASTM# 366
C. Core: _____" of 5% borated polyethylene (BPE) and
_____" pure lead plate per QQ-L-201f, Grade C.
* Reference radiation shielding report for thickness of BPE and/or thickness of lead
plate.
D. Hardware: Hinges: Per door manufacturer's recommendations.
E. Shop paint: Pre-treatment and manufacturer's standard rust
inhibitive primer.
2.03 FABRICATION
1. Fabricate metal work to required profiles for forming and welding
exposed edges straight and sharp or radiused.
2. Fit and fabricate accurately with corner hairline joints and all
surfaces free from warp, wave, buckle and other defects.
3. Welding: In accord with AWS Standards. Grind all exposed welds
smooth.
PART 3 -
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Comply with requirements of National Council on Radiation Protection and
Measurement (NCRP) Report No. 49 "Structural Shielding Design and Evaluation for
Medical Use of X-Rays and Gamma Rays of Energies up to 10MeV" and NCRP Report No. 51.
1. Comply with requirements of local, regulatory agencies where
standards and criteria exceed NCRP Report No. 49
B. Fabricator Qualifications: Fabricator shall be experienced in and
equipped for work of fabrication equal to standards specified herein. The fabricator shall
furnish evidence of fabricator having not less than ten (10) years experience in
successful fabrication of radiation protection materials, similar to products specified
herein.
1. Fabricator shall furnish proof of insurance certifying Fabricator is
specifically insured in the manufacture of X-Ray Protection / Radiation Shielding
Materials.
Single Source Responsibility: Provide X-Ray Protection Materials and
accessories produced as standard products of Ray-Bar Engineering Corporation, 697 W
Foothill Blvd, PO Box 415, Azusa California 91702-0415, Phone (626) 969-1818, a
manufacturer regularly engaged in the production of X-Ray Protection Materials.
PART 4 -
EXECUTION
4.01 INSTALLATION
A. Obtain field dimensions as necessary for proper fit.
B. Install doors and finish hardware. Coordinate installation with
automatic door operators specified in Section 08715.
C. Test doors and adjust hardware for proper operation.
4.02 CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of material, manufacturer shall supply a certificate of compliance stating
that all materials are in accordance with this specification.
